NHS App

We encourage patients to download the NHS App, so that you can manage your healthcare. The App will give you the ability to view results, letters, order medication etc without having to call the practice. Hospitals are now making their appointments visible on the App and our national screening programmes, such as cervical cytology, are sending normal results through to the patient via this route.

Please see the NHS App page.

Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) for weight management in General Practice

Dear secondary care colleagues. Firstly, thanks for your ongoing care of our mutual patients in busy and challenging times. We appreciate your support as our patients do.

This communication has been developed in response to concerns raised to Lincolnshire LMC by GP practices about requests from Secondary care for practices to prescribe Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) for patients who have been seen in a secondary care setting.

From 23rd June 2025, in Lincolnshire, Tirzepatide can only be prescribed by clinicians providing the PCN Interim Primary Care Tier 3 Weight Management Service.

The patient cohort eligible for this was just 393 across Lincolnshire and required them to have a BMI >40 and four of the five following conditions:

·       Type 2 diabetes mellitus

·       Hypertension

·       Ischaemic Heart Disease

·       Obstructive sleep apnoea

·       Dyslipidaemia

Those eligible are identified by their PCN and invited for the programme.

Further information on the local programme is available here:

Lincolnshire PCN interim weight management service

Therefore, while noting the popularity of Tirzepatide (Mounjaro) amongst patients, Lincolnshire GP practices are not commissioned or permitted to prescribe and monitor this medication.

As such, while acknowledging that you may think a patient may benefit from Tirzepatide, we are not able to prescribe this in general practice unless they meet the above criteria and can be accepted onto the PCN service.

Please refrain from requesting we prescribe this in clinic letters you send us and please avoid asking patients to contact us to request we prescribe Tirzepatide as this sets a patient expectation which can negatively impact their relationship with us when we then have to decline the request.
